Typically, wide/volatile ups and downs are bottom patterns. If it is an A-B-C correction/continuation, the range of the A/BC compared to the whole down-trend is relatively thin. I think the market missed the golden opportunity to crash today. After today's rebound, I think the little correction is pretty much over. The only question is whether market will stop at near previous high or record a new high. At the very least, I think market will give the short term direction as early as next week.

The rebound is strong. The first one took only 2 days to reach 50% retracement, the second one is higher low and after one day rebound almost touched the previous rebounding high. With NYMO still extremly low and CPC and VIX are still at top level (indicating a bottom), I would not short to try to catch any potential fat bear tail. Instead, if the market indeed has a lower low, I would load long heavily betting for a mid-term rally. If you are on the sideline and the market continues to go up, I would wait at least until near previous all-time high and some over-sold conditions are alleviated to try some short.

where will market go?
The following months will be traders' heaven (or hell, hehe). Market is due for correction and volatility. Usually after the break-out and rapid up following a spindle-shaped consolidation, market will have a longer term pull-back.
Currently, NYMO is very low, I think the market may re-test 1620-1630 today or tomorrow and then go up for about a week or so to 1660-1670 so I will definitely catch such phase. Then if lucky, market may touch new high, especially Russell, but I would not count on it.
Going into July and summer, most likely market will be below 1600, may as low as around 1500 but may not be that sharp. At the end of June, early July, I may bet a little bit for short, but my focus would be buying dip around September/October.
